Visit to Petit-Couronne in October

As 17 adults and 5 children prepare to set off for Petit-Couronne by coach on Saturday, we are pleasedto include 2 from Lowestoft Twinning Association (who have close associations with Beccles) to help usrepresent the town and of course contribute towards the cost of the coach.
Of this year's contingent, 10 adults and all 4 children will be travelling to Petit-Couronne for their firstever visit, and we are sure that they will not be disappointed. Attached is the poster from just one partof the program. There will be a full report of our trip next month.

Squares and Pom-Poms

We will be taking with us another bag of knitted squares and pom poms for the ' Olympic project',including another consignment of pompoms from St Benet's school.

As a national collection point, Beccles library (in its new temporary location) is holding regular 'knit and natter' sessions every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 2-3.30pm. The organisers in Rouen have now passed the 200,000 mark (⅕ of their target) and have enough pink and violet squares for now. We can carry on donating, however, well into the new year, so please keep on knitting or crocheting (preferably in colours other than pink or violet). All must be 10x10 cm or 5x5 cm with a tail each end for 'knitting up'.No stripey squares please.

Beccles Switch-On Event - Friday 24th November

As soon as we get back from Petit-Couronne we will start preparing for ' Switch on', Friday the 24th November and will need more people to help us serve soup on the night between 5.30 and 8.30 pmas well as 4 people, who can help us to put up the Gazebo at about 4.00 pm. Please let me know if youcan help.

Gateaux Galore - Saturday 24th Feruary 2024

Please also 'save the Twinning date', Saturday 24th February for a reprise of 'Gateaux Galore', our unique fundraising event where everyone gets an extra slice of the bakes - more details next month.

While we strive to remain a fully inclusive organisation, open to all who live, work or are otherwiseassociated with Beccles. Without membership fees, donations are always welcome!

Sadly despite keeping open for bookings as long as we possibly could, we weren't, in the end, able to 'break even' on our original costs for this year's trip and have had to dip into our reserves. Once we have paid off the deficit for the coach, (plus some other expenses associated with the trip), any further donations this year will go towards organising the programme of activities for next year's visitors to Beccles to enjoy. Please contact the Twinning Association for methods of payment.
