February 2023.

The Beccles Twinning Association decided this year to hold a Photography Competition with the final aim of presenting the winning image as a framed gift to the twinned town of Petit-Couronne when they visit in October this year.

Everybody who has a couple of photographs of Beccles, or the surrounding area are invited to submit upto 4 digital Jpeg imaages to  twinning.beccles@gmail.com by the end of May 2023, together with the subject title, the name of the person who took the photo and the date (month year) that it was taken.

All photographs submitted will be initially judged at the Associations meeting on the 13th June, and the best twelve will be displayed in the Beccles Library from 21st June to 9th July, where they can be judged by the public to vote for the overall winner.

The twelve finalist will have their photographs displayed, together with finalist from our twinned towns of Petit-Couronne and Ahlem, on the Virtual Art Exhibition link, when they will replace the 2020 Painting Exhibition, later this year.

July 2023

At 'the count' on Sunday the 9th July,  the 'View from Tower' by Graham Evans, with 39% of the votes was declared the winner and will now be framed and taken to Petit-Couronne in October.

'Morning Light on the Waveney' by Mike Lloyd, was runner up with 23% of the votes and the remaining 38% of the votes were fairly evenly split between the remaining 10 photographs so no one would have 'lost their deposit'!

Thank you to everyone who took part, we will let you know when the virtual exhibition goes 'live'.
