Visit to Petit-Couronne in October

Unfortunately our quote for the cost of the coach in October did not include the ferry crossing this year
and as a result the total amount is somewhat higher than first thought. We need more people to join us
in order to keep the cost to a reasonable amount, so please contact A.S.A.P. if you are considering
joining us. You will not be disappointed.

Beccles Carnival 20th August

Meanwhile, on a brighter note, we are delighted that our friends from Beccles Mens Shed have built a
bespoke 'float' for us to use at the carnival this Sunday, the 20th August, and also, at last, that the
weather forecast bodes well!
We still need help on the day to decorate the 'float' from 9.30 am in Roy's carpark. Decoration will need
to be completed by 10.45 am, as judging takes place from 11.00 am. Please come along and 'lend a
hand' if you can.
In addition to decoration of the float, we will also need at least 6 people to 'walk the route' on Sunday
from 1.00pm until approximately 2.30pm, wearing Twinning T shirts,,trainers and or other Olympic
sporting gear (please bring your own).to match the theme:of: Knitting a smile for the Paris Olympics....
All those taking part in the procession will need to attend a Safety Briefing at 11.30 am on the day..
'Walking the route', however, should enable free access to the Quay and the afternoon events taking
place down there, as a small recompense for the time spent, missing some of the Womens world cup
final..
Please let me know A.S.A.P. if you can help at any point on Sunday.

Squares and Pom-Poms

Following all the successful workshops last month, we are pleased that Beccles Library are now going
to act as a collection point for all the squares and pompoms that you have been making and which we
will be promoting at the carnival.
Please note though, that the library will be temporarily closed from the 4th-11 September for essential
repair works and then temporarily relocated (for 8 weeks) to the former HSBC building in Exchange
Square, The collection box, however and all the regular facilities of the libray will be moving with them.
